I. INTRODUCTION

1. Name: Faculty for International Relations – FIR

2. Founded: 20/2/1995

International Relations Faculty was founded as the idea of Mr. Nguyen Co Thach, a former Politburo member, former Deputy Prime Minister, former Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

The first head of faculty was Mr. Dinh Nho Liem, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs.

The successor is Deputy Foreign Minister Vu Xuan Ang (1998 - 2004), Ambassador Dr. Ngo Tat To (2004-2011).

II. TRAINING PROGRAM

1. Objects:

Faculty of International Relations aims to train Bachelor of International Relations in order to meet the needs of staff for external affairs at all levels and sectors; organizations and businesses with economic activity abroad.

To meet the requirements of society, Faculty only focuses on 2 majors.

- External Relations.

- International Economics

During the training period, students will learn the following knowledge and abilities:

- The basic knowledge of the history and system of international relations and international issues of contemporary.

- Foreign policy and international integration policy of the government

- Knowledge of international economics.

- Knowledge related to journalism, media and international cultural information.

- The scientific method of dialectical, independent and creative thinking.

- Professional skills in office, communication...

- English and Chinese.

2. Lecturers

- Besides official lecturers, Faculty also has other lecturers from other universities, institutes, corporations related to International Relations in Hanoi such as Dr. Nguyen Thi Que - Institute of International Relations; Dr. Sc. Luong Van Ke - Chairman, Faculty of European Studies in University of Social Sciences and Humanities; Dr. Ha Van Hoi - Head of International Economic, Vietnam National University

3. Cooperation Training and Research:

- Faculty of International Relations has extensive cooperation in training and research units such as the Institute of Foreign Affairs - Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Institute of International Relations - Public Administration Institute in Ho Chi Minh; European Research Institute, Institute of Southeast Asian Studies; Hanoi University of Foreign Trade; National Economics University; University of Social Sciences and Humanities - Vietnam National University, Institute of Journalism and propaganda ...

- Faculty has expanded cooperation with the Institutes, the Schools such as University of Guizhou - China; Thames School of Business Management - UK; Petre Andrei University - Romania, Academy of Taiwan; Institute for International Asia Research - IIAS frequently sends documents, magazines and scholarships for students.

4. Qualified jobs:

- Research and administration of foreign affairs.

- Research Executive, reporters at the news agencies, newspapers, cultural, social, business international trade, foreign organizations working in Vietnam.

- Continue to improve education to achieve Master degree, PhD.

Achievements:

- More than 90% students got a stable jobs after graduation.

- Some of them continue to study.

- A Team of Course 9 (2003 – 2007) earned a 1st prize of Marxism - Leninism competition organized by HDIU.

- Loc Thi Thuy and Tran Phuong Mai – students of course 11 (2005 – 2009) earned the 1^st prized of ASEAN discovery competition organized by Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

- Le Su Nang (course 6) and Le Thi Van Anh (course 12) were honored as the excellent students in Hanoi.

- Nguyen Quoc Huy (Course 4): Expert of Planning and Investment Ministry, Visiting Lecturer of International Relations Faculty.

- Tran Thi Thu Ha (Course 4): Head of Student Administration, Diplomatic Academy.

- Mai Xuan Ha (Course 7), Director of a company under Hung Ha Group.

- Ho Xuan Truong (course 3), Member of the Youth Union, Secretary of the business sector unions.

- Nguyen Quang Vu (course 14) pass the master examination at the same time in two prestigious training institutions: Vietnam Diplomatic Academy and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi.
